Our Strategy Cribbage boards are based on an old game design called Strategy Crib. This is a great, fun variant for experienced players looking to add more strategy to the regular mix.
This version is a little more complex than traditional cribbage and involves penalties and bonuses at certain points along the way. When you land in a hole with a red line, you move backwards either 5 holes if it's a thin line, or 9 holes if it's thick. If you land in a hole with a green line, you move forward - again 5 for a thin line and 9 for a thick one.
Watch the stink hole, the 120th - you have to move backwards 9 holes if you land there!
This strategy cribbage board measures 3.5" wide, 11.5" long and 0.75" thick. The board comes as standard with six metal pegs in the color combination of your choice. The pegs live inside a pocket in the back of the board, held securely by a sliding brass plate.
The top four edges have a generous chamfer adding to the style of the board. After sanding smooth, this board is brushed with shellac to protect the wood.
This game was orginally designed back in the 1980's and we can find no trace of existing valid trademark or patent.
